Biographies
Mary Ann Turner (Director and Chairman of the Board)
Mrs. Turner is the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Len-Tran, Inc. d/b/a Turner Tree and Landscape. Mrs. Turner is a graduate of the University of South Florida and had prior work experience with Barnett Bank of Manatee County as an Assistant Cashier. She is currently Vice-Chair for the YMCA of Manatee County, Vice President of the Board of Trustees for Saint Stephen's Episcopal School, and actively involved with Meals on Wheels of Manatee County. Mrs. Turner is also the University of South Florida's 2004 Distinguished Alumni Award winner. She and her husband Darrell reside in Manatee County with their two daughters, Carly and Jenna.

Clarence R. Urban (Director and Past Chairman of the Board)
Mr. Urban is president and owner of Arcade Lithographing Corporation. Arcade is one of the largest commercial printers on the west coast of Florida. Mr. Urban has been a resident of the area for 36 years and is a long-time supporter of many local charities. He has been an active member of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church for the past 26 years. He and his wife Gloria have four sons. [return to top]
Charles S. Conoley (Director, President and CEO)
Mr. Conoley is a 22-year banking veteran with the past 18 years spent in Florida. He is a graduate of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana and also has a Masters of Business Administration MBA in finance and accounting from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Mr. Conoley has been the President and CEO of Horizon Bancorporation, Inc. since inception in 1998 and President and CEO of the Bank since it opened in 1999. He has also worked in senior management lending and credit administration positions with American Bank of Bradenton and Barnett Bank, respectively. Mr. Conoley is presently on the local boards for Crimestoppers of Manatee and Junior Achievement and is a member of the Sertoma Club of Bradenton and the Economic Development Council for the Manatee county Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Conoley, his wife JoAnn and their children reside in Manatee County.

Thomas C. Bennett (Director)
Mr. Bennett has been a resident of Manatee County for the past 18 years, having arrived from Miami in 1986 to retire and be near his family. Mr. Bennett developed and sold Winter R.V. Park on Kay Road and the Manatee River and has since developed other properties including the prestigious riverfront community known as Cypress Creek Estates. In the early 90's Mr. Bennett bought the struggling Re/Max Allstar Real Estate firm and built it into one of the most successful brokerage firms in Manatee County, before selling the company to several of his top producers. He is the founder and Benefactor of Manatee County's new 178 Acre Public Park located on I-75 less than 1,000 ft. from Bradenton's main exit #220. Mr. Bennett has been involved in two other successful community banks, one in Miami in which he was an organizer and director that was sold to Barnett Banks in 1983, and as a director for First Commercial Bank of Bradenton that was sold to SouthTrust in 1995.

M. Shannon Glasgow (Director)
Mr. Glasgow is the President of USA Steel Fence, a commercial and residential fencing company with operations in Bradenton, Lakeland, Gibsonton, Englewood and St. Petersburg, Florida. A native of Manatee County, Mr. Glasgow is a graduate of Palmetto High School and attended Manatee Community College. He is also the owner of USA Pawn, USA Used Cars and USA Land Company. Mr. Glasgow is an officer with other family businesses, including Approved Roofing, Inc., USA Group Inc. and USA Real Estate, Inc. Mr. Glasgow is very active in a wide range of civic and charitable organizations to include but not limited to, Manatee County Boys and Girls Clubs, The Police Athletic League, South County Youth Center, Manatee Little League and Our Family Ranch. Mr. Glasgow and his daughter reside in Palmetto.

C. Donald Miller, Jr. (Director)
Mr. Miller is the President of Miller Enterprises of Manatee, Inc. of which he has been associated with since 1967. Mr. Miller was on the Board of Westside National Bank from 1979 to 1981 (when purchased by Barnett Bank, Inc.) and then served on the board of Barnett Bank of Manatee County, N.A. until they were purchased by NationsBank in 1997. Mr. Miller's business interests include local real estate investments, a marina, restaurant, tropical fish farm and a nursing home. He is a past president of the Manatee County Chamber of Commerce and a past Hernando Desoto of the DeSoto Historical Society. He has been a long-time participant in many local-civic and charitable organizations and events. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of Hillsdale College in Michigan, of which he attended. He and his wife Marty live in Bradenton.

David K. Scherer (Director)
Mr. Scherer is the owner and president of TDS Construction, Inc., a company that specializes in the construction of retail stores with operations throughout the United States. Mr. Scherer and his wife Terri re-located the company to Bradenton from Elizabethtown, Kentucky six years ago and live in Manatee County with their two children. Mr. Scherer is a member of the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce and several national trade associations. He is an active financial supporter of local charities in Manatee County.

Bruce E. Shackelford (Director)
Mr. Shackelford is the president of 4 Star Tomato, Inc. and a General Partner for Triple-S Farms. Mr. Shackelford was born in Wachula, Florida and moved to Manatee County in 1977 after he graduated from the University of Florida. Along with his brothers Scott and Gary, they farm over 2500 acres of potatoes, tomatoes, melons and other crops in Manatee County. They also farm potatoes in California. Mr. Shackelford was the president of the Manatee County Farm Bureau and is active in other organizations that support local agriculture. [return to top]
Dr. Barclay Kirkland (Director)
Barclay Kirkland is a native Floridian from Tampa, Florida. He graduated from H.B. Plant High School "with honors." Dr. Kirkland has attended Emory University, Medical College of Virginia and Indiana University. His honors include National Honor society, Sigma Zeta and Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the highest honorary from dental college. He has served on two dental faculties: Virginia Commonwealth University and Indiana University. Since moving to Bradenton in 1991, he has been in private practice as a periodontal dental specialist.
His interests include raising cattle and thoroughbred racehorses. He acts as a coach for his five-time world champion weightlifting wife Margaret. The Kirklands support several local charities including Boys and Girls Clubs. They have two daughters, Cari and Chloe, who attend Manatee High and King Middle Schools, respectively.

Dr. Elizabeth Thomason (Director)
Mrs. Thomason is currently serving on the board of Directors for the Church of the Palms Foundation, as Acting Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for Community Aids Network, and as a ruling Elder of the Church of the Palms - Presbyterian in Sarasota. Dr. Thomason is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia with a DMD degree. She served as a dentist in the Army for 10 years and was in private practice for 10 years. She served as CEO for Thomason Enterprises and Venture Telecommunications, both cable construction companies and is currently managing partner in Thomason and Thomason LLC. She and her husband, Mark, have lived in Manatee County since 1993. They have four daughters and seven grandchildren.
